Kristin Kyper was born in Boston, Massachusetts in 1976. She was encouraged to be creative at an early age, and won a number of supermarket coloring contests. Art has never been her only love, however, and she graduated from the University of Massachusetts Lowell with an Honors BS in Computer Science. Having minored in Studio Art in college, she wanted to continue her studies, and after working for a few years as a Software Engineer and Graphic Designer she matriculated at the Massachusetts College of Art and Design. Concentrating in nonferrous metalsmithing, she branched out into blacksmithing and steel fabrication, woodworking, stone carving, cold glass working, moldmaking and casting, sewing, papermaking, and electronic circuit building. She received a BFA in 3D Fine Arts in May 2008.
